It took Edison close to 10,000 experiments before he got the electric light bulb right. With each "failed"
attempt he simply noted one more way it didn't work and tried again. He recognized that failure was part of the deal, and kept his

In 1914 Thomas Edison's factory in West Orange, New Jersey, was virtually destroyed by fire. Although the damage exceeded $2 million,

we can start anew."
Three weeks after the fire, Edison managed to deliver the first phonograph.
